The Dock in Black and White
The Dock on Emerson Lake, 5/27/07

Today’s photo is from a place that I hold very dear in my heart. Every summer I spend a little time on this small lake in Walhalla, Michigan.

  1. Beautiful rendition in black & white! I spend many early mornings on a similar dock in Quebec and can almost feel the heavy mist looking at your image.

  2. Got to love a placed called Walhalla. :-)

Such a peaceful scene. I can hear the “silence”.

    Thank you Julie.

Scott - I love saying Walhalla, and spelling it out loud is fun too!

    WOW! B&W adds drama! ;)

  3. This is absolutely beautiful Barrie. I agree with Aries that the b/w effect adds drama and depth to the shot.

Michelle and Aries - thanks so much! I like the black and white version of this shot alot. I have just started to play with black and white. It really changes the way a photo feels.

The contrast in this image is stunning. The black and white adds emphasis to the dock and the fog. How did you capture the fog?
