I love this tree. It lives in Crystal Springs Rhododendrum Park in Portland. I always have to take a few photos of it when I visit that park. Here’s a completely different view of it that I took almost a year ago.

I’ve made a dangerous new discovery. I won a raffle last week and the prize was a freshly made pie from Random Order, a coffeehouse within walking distance of my house. They bake 22 different kinds of pie. I chose this chocolate cream pie that is made with 3 different kinds of chocolate and fresh whipped cream. Wow! It’s incredible! It tastes amazing – rich, light and creamy with a yummy, flaky crust. Oh man, I’m in trouble.

I won! My photo of Spaceship Earth at Epcot was chosen as Photo of the Year on DisneyPhotoContest.com. The prize is 100 Disney Vacation Club (DVC) points. For you folks who aren’t familiar with DVC, it’s like winning a week’s vacation at one of Walt Disney World’s finest resorts. That’s a pretty fabulous prize for Disney World fan like me!
Completely by chance, this photo is also being published this month on the cover of a pharmacuetical journal – I know, go figure. It was also my Pic of the Week recently on another blog I contribute to, Picture This! on the AllEars website. This photo has seen a lot of action in the last couple of weeks.
Tomorrow is the my last photography class. It’s been good but I’m kind of glad it’s over. Now I am anxious to put my new skills to the test. I’m looking forward to taking the kind of photos I like to take, rather than having to focus on a weekly assignment.
On March 10 there will be an exhibit of photos taken by the students during the course of the class. We have to choose a minimum of three photos to show. They must be enlarged to at least 11×14, matted and framed. I am considering this old truck as one of my three.
The exhibit is open to anyone who wants to attend. If you’re interested in checking out the work of some up and coming local photographers, please feel free to pop in anytime between 7:45pm and 9:30pm at 813 SW Morrison (downstairs) – that’s in Portland.
