Belle
Belle, 8/27/08

This is our new puppy, Belle! She’s a Chin-Poo, which is a cross between a Japanese Chin and a Poodle. That doesn’t really matter to us though, we just think she’s sweet and adorable. She’s about 5 months old.

Sutree, Belle and Tyler
The Siblings, 8/27/08

Here’s Sutree, Belle and Tyler in Manzanita. We spent our first day together at the beach. Tyler loves having another dog to play with. Even though she’s so little they play together really well. Sutree plays nice too!

Summer Fun!
Summer Fun, 6/22/08

This morning it was dreary and raining – a perfect day for a little reading. I read the chapter on panning in Bryan Peterson’s new book, Understanding Shutter Speed. Later though, it turned out to be a beautiful day so I headed for the Rose Garden. The roses are in full bloom and just gorgeous right now.

This young brother and sister were having a great time riding their bikes around the fountain I decided to take the opportunity to try my hand at panning. Unfortunately, just as I was starting to get the hang of it, they took a spill and that was the end of all of our fun. Thankfully, they were both fine.

This was the last photo I took before they fell and the best of the bunch. It’s a little crooked and I wish I would have gotten the whole bike in the shot, but for my first time trying this technique, I’m pleased with the results.

Maidenhair Fern
Maidenhair Fern, 5/11/08

The Maidenhair fern has always been my favorite. I love the jet black stems and how delicate it is. This one just showed up in my garden last year as a tiny little thing. I was very careful not to pull it when I was weeding. This year it is all grown up and quite beautiful.

Day 83 - Isaiah
Isaiah, 3/29/08

I have a newfound admiration of anyone who can take good photographs of children. I spent this day taking photos of O’Rion, Isaiah and Gillian (Sutree’s niece and nephews). I had no idea how hard it is to shoot kids. Definately not a career path I will be choosing!

Day 82 - Carousel
Jantzen Beach Carousel, 3/28/08

When Jantzen Beach Amusement Park opened in 1928, it was the biggest amusement park in the country. Sadly, this carousel is all that is left of it. Even sadder, it is currently housed in a shopping mall. I think that is why the horses appear to be in such anguish!

I love amusement parks. I grew up in Ohio, not far from Cedar Point, so roller coasters are in my blood! We don’t have any good amusement parks in the Pacific Northwest. That’s one of the few faults I can find with living in Oregon.

Day 81 - adidas
adidas, 3/27/08

Everyone knows Portland is Nike town, but did you know that adidas also calls Portland home? This window shot is from the adidas Village Corporate Headquarters on N Greeley.

Day 80 - After the Rain
After the Rain, 3/26/08

Lupine leaves following a spring shower. I never noticed the pink and yellow centers before. I think these leaves are pretty enough to be flowers themselves.

Day 79 - Ankeny Square
Ankeny Square, 3/24/08

Home to Saturday Market on the weekends, Ankeny Plaza was at one time the city center of Portland.
