Belle
Belle, 8/27/08

This is our new puppy, Belle! She’s a Chin-Poo, which is a cross between a Japanese Chin and a Poodle. That doesn’t really matter to us though, we just think she’s sweet and adorable. She’s about 5 months old.

Sutree, Belle and Tyler
The Siblings, 8/27/08

Here’s Sutree, Belle and Tyler in Manzanita. We spent our first day together at the beach. Tyler loves having another dog to play with. Even though she’s so little they play together really well. Sutree plays nice too!

Worldwide Photo Walk, 8/23/08

On Saturday I participated in Scott Kelby’s Worldwide Photo Walk in Portland, Oregon. Roughly 7500 people from 230 cities around the world set out in small groups to photograph their cities and make new friends. Word has it that the event was such a success that it is now being referred to as the First Annual Worldwide Photo Walk.

Portland’s walk was lead by Laurie Excell – thanks Laurie! After photographing Portland’s cityscape, we crossed the river on the Hawthorne Bridge and moved into downtown Portland where we visited landmarks such as City Hall, Portlandia, the old Portland Theater and Pioneer Square. Here’s a link to a short slideshow of some of the photos I took on the walk. I’ve wandered that same route with my camera lots of times, but it was a little different doing it with a group of fifty some photographers!

One highlight of my day was getting to meet Top in person. I’ve been following along on his blog for awhile. He took some great photos. You can see his, and the other walkers’ photos on this flickr site.

The Shrine of Saint Veronica
The Shrine of Saint Veronica, 5/17/08

This statue of Saint Veronica is found in St. Peter’s Basilica. I learned that Saint Veronica is the renowned legendary woman who, moved by the sight of Christ carrying his cross to Golgotha, gave him her kerchief to wipe his brow, after which he handed it back imprinted with the image of his face. All I can say is he must have been wearing an awful lot of makeup!

I think of all the places we visited in Europe, I was most awed by the Vatican. It is truly the most beautiful structure that I have ever seen. And the art is absolutely amazing. I think this sculpture is particularly beautiful.

I submitted this photo to JPG Magazine Issue 19: Faith. Think it’s a good fit? Vote here!

Boardwalk
Boardwalk, 7/20/08

This is part of the Island trail that winds its way along Hamlin Lake at the Ludington State Park in Ludington, Michigan. Along the trail there are a number of boardwalk paths that lead through the wet marshlands of the lake. It’s a beautiful park.
